Herbal Properties : Analgesic, Anti-Inflammatory, Antibacterial, Antioxidant, Astringent, Antidepressant
Rosehips are the fruit of the rose plant, and they are packed with Vitamin C. They grow as the flowers of the rose plant fall off.
Quite a few studies have been done on rosehips and its ability to relieve pain in patients with arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gonarthritis (sources 2, 3, 4). This is likely due to the way that rosehips help to calm inflammation in the body, thus creating pain relief (source 1).
You may also commonly see rose and rosehips in skincare products or skincare herbal remedies. Likely due to its concentrated Vitamin A, C, and antioxidant levels, rosehips have been shown to improve skin quality and reduce wrinkles (source 5).
Precautions:
If you harvest them yourself, make sure to remove seeds prior to consumption, as they are toxic. Rosehips are generally a very safe herb, but always consult a trusted healthcare provider with any concerns or questions about using it.
