Oat tops are the milky tops of the oat plant. This herb is not only soothing to the skin, but it is nutritive to the body. Oat tops are rich in Vitamins E and B, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Calcium, Selenium, & Choline. These nutrients might be a part of why this herb seems to be so soothing to those with stress and anxiety. This herb has been shown to promote a better mood (Source 2).
Oat tops support the nervous system and are great for physical and mental exhaustion as well as lack of focus. One study was done that showed after using the herb for four weeks, there was improvements in cognitive function. Patients had improvement in their memory and ability to multi-task! (Source 1)
Oat tops also support sleep (maybe that’s another part of why it seems to aid in mood support!) (Source 3)
