Elderberry is the fruit of the Elder plant.

Elder is a perennial shrub that is native to most of Europe, North America, and Southwest Asia.

Elderberry is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants. It supports the immune system by stimulating it. It is commonly used during times of sickness or as a preventative when it is the peak of sickness season.

From the book National Geographic Guide to Medicinal Herbs, "Herbal Practitioners recommend elderberry syrup and extracts to fight infection and shorten colds' duration."

Elderberries are traditionally used in syrups, teas, cordials, tinctures, and wines.

Did you know? Elderberry was recommended all the way back in 4th century B.C. by Hippocrates!

Precautions :

Some people with autoimmune diseases are sensitive to the plant due to Elderberry's immune stimulating effects and may want to exercise caution when trying it. Some may have no issues with it at all, while others may have a different experience. When in doubt, seek medical professional. None of this is medical advice.

Unripe elderberries or other plant parts should not be consumed.
